Prophet Harun's Tomb - Sinai

The Tomb of Prophet Harun (Aaron) is very close to the St. Catherine’s Monastery in Sinai. Aaron was the older brother of Moses (Musa in Arabic) and he grew up in Egypt.  Both he and Moses were sent together to warn the Pharaoh about God’s punishment.
The story of the Golden Calf in Koran is related to Prophet Aaron. Just prior to being given the Ten Commandments, God invited Moses to bring Aaron with him up the mountain.

Harun as an important figure with Moses

Aaron is important in Islam for his role in the events of the Exodus, in which, he preached with his brother Moses to the Pharaoh of the Exodus. When Moses had to go to Pharoah, he prayed his brother Aaron would help him. Aaron was a gifted speaker, and would often speak for Moses who suffered from a speech impediment. He was responsible for teaching the Israelites the way of worship as it was laid out in the Torah. Both Moses and Aaron went to the first meeting with Pharaoh. It did not go well and resulted in the loss of straw for making bricks. The Israelites were furious with Moses and Aaron when they found out the reason for Pharaoh’s order.
