Hazira Mosque Yazd
Hazira Mosque is located at Imam Street, a few minutes walk from the Saheb-a Zaman Zurkhaneh Club. A very noticeable thing about this mosque is its’ beautifully decorated entrance gate. It has a high ceiling which is supported by tall pillars. The dome has very distinctive light gold colour. After passing a courtyard one comes come inside a splendid prayer hall.
Inside the hall, work on the stained glass windows is one of the best I have seen during my trip in Iran. If this mosque didn’t have the best stained glass windows then only al-Nasr Mosque in Shiraz could surpass it. On windows, different colours were used to enhance the beauty of this building.
Colourful designs were created on the ceiling and their beauty was shining brightly with the help of the light bulbs. Iranian tiles, stained glass windows and kufic inscriptions make this complex worth a visit.
There are three doors inside the complex give access to other parts of the mosque where some graves are located. A grave belongs to Shiekh Muhammad Ali Sadooqi, hence this complex is also known as Sadooqi tomb. A second grave belongs to a lady who was the companion of Ayatollah Sadoughi (Sadooqi).
