Dahab Village - Sinai, Egypt

A beautiful sign beside road welcomes visitors to Dahab, this village sits near the southern tip of Sinai on the Red Sea. Dahab is 175 km south from the Taba Border and 85 km from Sharm el-Sheikh. In the past, Bedouin families used to live in this village but now it has become a tourist spot. Sharm el-Sheikh tends to be more crowded but in contrast Dahab offers a relax atmosphere.

I booked into a hotel at the beach front and my room resembled to a traditional hut though with all the modern facilities mosquitoes didn’t stay away from me. Breeze picked up in the evening and waves became stronger. As i started to walk towards the village, in the distance I could see the tower of the village mosque rising above the palm trees.

Blue Hole Road passes through the village and I saw few bedouin houses with their goats in front of the mud walls. There were many houses and villas in the village. Almost all of the villas and holiday homes I came across were empty, it was mainly due to the unrest in Egypt. There were more holiday homes were under construction but on most of them construction seemed to have stopped.
A small but beautiful mosque sits on the main road which goes through the village. The mosque’s interior is painted in green and it has green carpets and pillars with the same colour (probably tiled).
